Los Collaborates With Mark Battles and Wale On New Mixtape

January 2, 2014

Los, Baltimore hip-hop’s rising star on Bad Boy Records, released his last solo mixtape, Becoming King, only 8 months ago, but he didn’t let 2013 end without dropping some more new music. In the last weekend of the year, Los and another up-and-coming MC, Indianapolis’s Mark Battles, put out their collaborative mixtape Broken Silence, with 15 new tracks, some with both rappers and some with one or the other. Check out the whole thing below.

Fans of King Los’s rapid-fire delivery and wit may find the more plainspoken Mark Battles a bit boring by comparison, but they complement each other well on tracks like “Ugh Oh,” and the standout Los solo track “Fuck With Me” is a good appetizer for whatever big project he’s working on next. But Broken Silence may be most interesting for its guests, which include Dizzy Wright, Chevy Woods and G.O.O.D. Music’s Cyhi The Prynce (Los and Battles also tack verses onto Kevo Da Kid and Ab-Soul’s Young Chop-produced single “On God”). The biggest name on the tape, though, is Wale, who joins the duo on the introspective “Got A Feeling,” the first time that perhaps Baltimore and Washington, D.C.’s biggest respective rap stars have collaborated on wax.
