Paste picks “10 Maryland Bands You Should Listen to Now”

August 8, 2013
By

50statesprojectAs part of its “5o States Project,” music pub Paste put together a list of 10 Maryland bands you should listen to and hey, they did a pretty good job. Regular City Paper readers will already be familiar with Raindeer, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat, Soft Cat, Holy Ghost Party, and Secret Mountains. Others, like Frederick’s Ghost Hotel and College Park’s Julia Brown are a little off our geographic radar.

Paste isn’t exactly known for venturing out into the wilder, weirder music out there, but this is still a great showing for Charm City, which is also represented by The Sterling Sisters, Sun Club, and Us and Us Only.

For more than 10 times as many bands you should listen to right now, check out the massive Baltimore playlist in our Big Music Issue, which includes unreleased tracks from Paste picks Sun Club, Us and Us Only, Soft Cat, and Raindeer, among many, many others:

Pasaden should be on this list!

Yes! Pasadena is one of the best bands in the area! Also conspicuously missing: Sean K Preston and the Loaded Pistols, Caleb Stine and the Brakemen, Sweet Leda, the Grilled Lincolns, and Lawnchair…JUST to name a few.
