Baltimore Round Robin Tour Is Giving Detroit a Complex

Our friends up at City Paper‘s sister publication in Detroit, Metro Times, pointed us to a couple of fawning reviews from local blogs about the Baltimore Round Robin Tour, which wraps up this weekend in New York City. From webvomit.com: “The honesty and positivity these people give off is amazing. From a Detroiter’s perspective, it’s a goddamn miracle.” Find its coverage here and here. And from fivethreedialtone.com: “Maybe the ‘fun’ aspect of music, or at least being a music fan, is so far removed from the norm at this point that it takes a fucking school bus full of people from Baltimore to hand deliver that shit.” Fivethreedialtone has three posts on the tour: The first pontificates a bit on what keeps Detroit (and other scenes) from pulling something like the Round Robin off, the second is on the Eyes Night, and the third is on the Feet Night.

As a native of the city I’m loath to say it, but, man, Detroit needed a hug. Glad Baltimore was able to deliver something that sounds like the equivalent of a prisoner’s conjugal visit.
