Wye Oak Monarch Signs to Merge Records

January 3, 2008

Over beers last night at Golden West, Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner dropped a little bomb of good news on us: Their band, Wye Oak (Monarch, until recently), has signed with venerable Merge Records, home to Spoon, Destroyer, and M. Ward, among a bunch of other indie idols. The immediate upshot–aside from the whole branding thing–is that the duo’s fantastic debut, If Children, will get a proper national rerelease this April, with options for more releases in the future. Merge is expected to make the announcement later today.
