The folks at WTMD and Bmoreart, run by CP contributor Cara Ober, are joining forces to put a new exhibit, Everything On It, up at the radio station’s studio. There’s got to be music, of course, so head to the opening reception for the Americana tunes of Mountain Peaks.

There are plenty of ways to make a portrait: paint, take a picture, create an etching. But carve a telephone book? That’s just Alex Queral did in his exhibit Face|Book, on display at the Creative Alliance. Read our review here.

From the Short List: “Long-running Washington, D.C. band the Caribbean plays Church and Company in support of its excellent new album, Moon Sickness, with locals Mink Hollow and Infinite Honey. Black Rose Metal Heart Promotions holds a stoner/doom edition of its Face Melting Fridays series at the Sidebar with spooky bands like Serpent Witch and Weed Warlock. Pure Junk, The Barnyard Sharks, and Pearly Goats, all of whom have CP affiliations, play Metro Gallery in the second installment of Wrongfest, to raise money for Mr. Wrong columnist and erstwhile CP creative director Joe MacLeod. Don’t miss: All-female septet Musae plays two sets spanning jazz, soul, and country at An die Musik.”

You want to know how terrible this winter has been? So terrible we’re tired of using it as a lead-in for a blurb. Still, the start of spring is exciting, and DJ AngelBaby, Schwarz & Mark Brown, DJ James Nasty, Chiffon (DJ set), and many more are getting things started off right with the sweaty rager Club Mnemonic at the Crown and Gold Bar.

Stillpointe Theatre Initiative tackles Mr. Marmalade, the one-act play about a young girl, Lucy, and her imaginary friend, the titular Mr. Marmalade. But it’s not as cutesie as it sounds, because Lucy’s life, as our reviewer put it, is “seriously fucked up.” Read our the rest of our review and see the show.

If you take your Walking Dead obsession a little too seriously, head to Zombie Gras, a restaurant-bar crawl of sorts where people dressed as zombies get some pretty sweet deals just because they dressed up as zombies (it costs $10 if you don’t). If you’re not quite prepared, makeup artists and vendors will be on hand to help you out at Geppi’s Entertainment Museum.

From the Short List: “T. Mills, hilarious douchebag rapper of “Fuck Em (With My Vans On)” semi-fame, headlines Baltimore Soundstage. The John K. Band, led by John Kadlecik, a veteran of several Grateful Dead side projects and tribute bands, performs at Rams Head Live. The Tony Martucci Quartet performs with the titular Virginia-based drummer/bandleader at An die Musik. New Jersey death-metal band Sapremia plays Club K with Immaculate Deception, Virulence, and more. Don’t Miss: The Warehouse on Warner Street holds “From Niggas to God,” a multimedia exhibition about Afrofuturism which will feature a soundtrack by DJ Shawn Smallwood and performances by local musicians like Yo Slick, Eze Jackson, Greenspan, and Jamal Loving, the singing alter ego of Blaqstarr.”

The Peabody Institute is not just about classical music and opera, you know. The school shows off its dancey side with the Peabody Dance 2014 Spring Showcase, featuring six performances of of contemporary ballet and modern dance. Unless things go horribly awry, they won’t break any glass like this soprano did.

Where can you find David Bowie’s crotch and Tim Curry in a mammoth Satan suit in one place? At Pizza Party After Dark’s screening of Labyrinth and Legend, naturally. A little factoid for you: Bowie’s codpiece from the movie even has its own Facebook page!

After a long, strange, litigious journey, Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s On the Shore of the Seine finally returns to the Baltimore Museum of Art following a more than 60-year absence. See it, and 20 other pieces donated by Saidie May, in the exhibit The Renoir Returns.

From the Short List: “Creative Differences presents the Bradford Gjerstad Quartet, featuring legendary cornetist Bobby Bradford in his first-ever Baltimore performance, at the Windup Space. The Ottobar presents a “Sunday rager” with performances by Multicult, Whores, Fight Amp, and more. North Carolina-based jazz combo the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra performs at Club 347. The Abe Ovadia Organ Trio, in which New York-based guitarist Abe Ovadia is accompanied by organist Anthony Pocetti, performs at An die Musik. Don’t miss: Legendary Queens rap duo Mobb Deep celebrates two decades as a group at Baltimore Soundstage.”
