The murder of Roger Dennis, a 25-year-old African-American man, has been closed by exception. Dennis was shot in the 1900 block of West North Avenue in 1997. He died on Aug. 1, 2008. The man police believe was responsible for Dennis’ death has died.

The March 6, 2009 murder of Herbert Carsten Jr, a 17-year-old Caucasian man, and the March 8, 2009 murder of Wayne Robinson, a 22-year-old African-American man, have both been closed by exception, but police were not able to say why.

Donnell Smith Jr., a 27-year-old African-American man, was arrested on July 17, 2009 for the murder of Erksine Evans, a 28-year-old African-American man. Evans was shot repeatedly on April 15, 2009.

On Aug. 4, 2009 Joshua Bresnick, a 16-year-old Caucasian male, was found guilty of the murder of David Falkinburg, a 45-year-old Caucasian man. Falkinburg was stabbed in the chest in his home in the 2800 block of Clearview Ave. on Jan. 6, 2009. Bresnick was sentenced to nine years in prison.

The charges against Walter Anderson, a 16-year-old African-American male, in the murder of Michael White, a 24-year-old African-American man, were all dropped on Sept. 22, 2009. White was shot several times on Aug. 27, 2009 in the 600 block of Presstman Street in Upton.

The charges against Eddy Castillo-Diaz, a 21-year-old Hispanic man, for the murder of Jose Escobar Peña were also dropped on Sept. 15, 2009. Peña, a 26-year-old Hispanic man, was stabbed to death in the 3500 block of Eastern Ave. in Highlandtown on Feb. 22, 2009.

Antoine Patterson, a 27-year-old African-American man, was in jail on Dec. 29, 2009 when he was charged with the murder of Michael Davis, a 30-year-old African-American man. Davis was shot in the head in Whitten’s Bar in the 4500 block of Erdman Ave. on Feb. 14, 2009.

On Dec. 28, 2009, Kendall Jones, a 19-year-old African-American man, was arrested for shooting Ashley Harper, a 53-year-old African-American man, to death. Harper’s son was accosted outside their home in the 700 block of West Lexington Street two days earlier. When Harper went to help, he was shot.

Two arrests were made in the Dec. 21, 2009 murder of Janaya Wallace, a 1-year-old African-American girl. The baby’s father Jerome Wallace, a 24-year-old African-American man, and his girlfriend, a 22-year-old African-American woman, were arrested on Dec. 30, 2009 for Janaya’s death. The girl’s twin brother was stillborn, her mother died two weeks after giving birth. According to the Medical Examiner, Janaya was beaten to death.
