Coffee at the Enoch Pratt Free Library

May 18, 2009
By

A new cyber-coffee-café opens at the Enoch Pratt Free Library, central branch (400 Cathedral St., (410) 545-3115) tomorrow, May 19 at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. After the festivities, library patrons will be able to drink Seattle’s Best brand coffee from a self-serve kiosk. The Pratt Café will also be wi-fi. For now, it’s bring-your-own laptop but, in the future, the library plans to allow patrons to check out laptops to use in the café and throughout the library. In a press release, the library’s CEO, Carla Hayden says, “One of our primary goals is to keep the Pratt Library relevant and ahead of the curve.” We’re guessing she means for libraries as coffee shops with wi-fi aren’t exactly cutting edge. Still it will be nice to be able to grab a cup o’ joe when you’re deep in the stacks.
