Come out for a concert and auction benefiting Mr. Wrong, bid on autographed items from John Waters and David Simon
Even though Mr. Wrong still appears in the pages and on the pixels of your City Paper, Joe MacLeod, the author of the column and a 25-year employee at the paper, lost his job and has been denied severance by previous ownership of the paper. To help him out, CP staffers and freelancers, past and present, are getting together for a show and benefit at the Metro Gallery, with all proceeds going to Joe. Among the items up for auction: a DVD box set of The Wire autographed by David Simon, a poster and DVD box set autographed by John Waters, photo sessions with CP photographers Josh Sisk, Frank Hamilton, and Michelle Gienow, and original works by Emily Flake, Ben Cricchi, Sisk, Gienow, J.M. Giordano, Noah Scialom, Sam Holden, and Jim Burger.
Can’t make it? That’s okay, you can place bids online at this link. But you will be missing out on music by Pure Junk (featuring current CP contributors Alex Fine and Ben Claassen and former contributor Nolen Strals), the Barnyard Sharks (featuring senior editor Baynard Woods), and Pearly Goats (featuring Holden).
We also just got word there will be delicious cookies. So come on out tonight at 8 p.m. and help out Mr. Wrong, a supporter of the city’s artists and all-around great guy. Bid early and bid often.
