Color The Streets!
On Monday, Downtown Partnership sponsors an art installation featuring what is possibly the most temporary medium (next to the sand grains used in Mandala paintings by Buddhist monks and Cai Guo-Qiang’s smoke creations). Grant Lindahl, a chalk artist from MICA has been commissioned to create a temporary mural at the corner of Pratt and Light Streets, with the help of volunteer artists. The drawing will take place over the course of the entire day, from dawn until dusk. Baltimore residents are invited to get a glimpse of this 450 square foot mural before the rain comes to wash it away. Thankfully, another MICA student will be there to film a short of the mural, thus immortalizing the piece in 1080p. On the down side, the forecast is calling for scattered thunderstorms just one day after the mural’s completion.
Color The Streets! Live Chalk Mural Drawing on Pratt & Light St. will take place Monday, August 13: 7 am-10 pm, with a rain date the following day.
