Robocop launches a Kickstarter campaign
Mark Haygood, the former cop and self-taught roboticist whose creation City Paper wrote about last month, has launched a Kickstarter campaign to build a new and better robot—and teach kids the wonder virtue of making stuff.
“Hex is a less sophisticated humanoid platform but a perfect teaching tool as ALL of the basic fundamentals of advanced humanoid robotics apply,” Haygood writes in his pitch, which includes a great video. “Hex is a unique thing in all the world – a starter humanoid robot.”
Haygood, who turned 50 a couple weeks ago, has been busy visiting schools and making contacts. He’s trying to raise $35,000 by July 30.
Good luck, sir.
