The  organizers of the Transmodern Festival (2011′s  “Best Festival”) have finally broken their silence to give us an idea of what to expect from its 10th incarnation. The festival, running from May 2-5, will feature performances by Dan Deacon, film and talks by the festival’s founder Catherine Pancake, film by Martha Colburn, and tribute to “Blaster” Al Ackerman, among numerous other performances, including the annual Love Parade, which you can see here.

We got in touch with Laure Dragoul to find out more. She wrote: “Catherine Pancake-who started the festival TEN years ago(wow!)- will show a great line up of films and talk about her work and the festival’s beginnings. Filmmaker Martha Colburn!! is coming to Baltimore with new work, Bonnie Jones and Asimina Chremos will perform and we are partnering with Current in the backlot for the Saturday night Dan Deacon concert featuring Snails, Moss of Aura and OCDJ.

Dragoul is equally enthusiastic about Rooms Fall Apart: A Serious Play.  “It will run for all 4 days of the festival- opening May 2 and continuing till May12,” she writes. “It is shaping up most extraordinarily, the performance/immersive event features many, many artists and is being organized by Pilar Diaz, Ada Pinkston, Sophia Mak, and Victor FM Torres.  It will be on two floors of Maryland Art Places’ building on 218 W. Saratoga St.”

According to Dragoul Blaster’s Baltimore Years (1992-2010)  will be open May 2-19 at Current Gallery and “will include Stewart Mostofsky’s ( Ehse Records) amazing collection of Blaster’s record album paintings, video and other works.”
