Food Network Taps Another Baltimore-Area Baker

June 14, 2010
By

When cupcake confectioners square off tomorrow night during the premiere of the Food Network‘s newest chow-centric contest, Cupcake Wars, one of Baltimore’s own will be wielding an icing tube among them.

Tracey Buchanan gets serious about sweets on Cupcake Wars.

Tracey Buchanan, the tattooed wedding and specialty cakes manager at Sweet Bakery in Ellicott City, puts her frosting skills to the test as she competes to create the ultimate seaside birthday party sweets in the episode, titled “SeaWorld Birthday” Bash. Fellow competitors are Lindsay Morton, founder of the Dollhouse Bake Shoppe in Santa Monica, Calif., Bret Thompson of Los Angeles’ Milk , and Allyson Fiander of Daddy Cakes in Topeka, Kan. Along with the chance to showcase their goods at the seaside soiree, the episode’s winner gets $10,000. Wouldn’t it be sweet if the Baltimore baker won? The show, hosted by  Justin Willman premieres June 15 at 9 p.m.

Good for her. How about getting one of the sisters from Georgetown Cupcake?! They are my favorite. :-)
