City Council Vacancy Committee to Meet Feb. 23

The City Council has posted notice on its web site that the Vacancy Nominating Committee for the 12th District City Council seat, which has been empty since Feb. 8, when former Councilman Bernard “Jack” Young (D) was appointed City Council president.

According to the announcement, a public hearing will be held in the council chamber at City Hall on Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. (and it’ll be televised on public access cable channel 25, for those who want to watch but not partake).

If you’re interested in the seat, send your resume, a copy of your photo ID, proof of age, and address to Larry Greene in the Office of Council Services by Feb. 22. His contact information is on the web site.

If you’re 21 years old, a resident of the 12th District for at least one year, a citizen of the United States, and a registered voter, you can apply for the job. Which, by the way, pays $57,000 per year.
