Pulitzer Bait: A little harsh, but that’s what the Sun‘s group home series is. But at least it’s an important local issue–the awfulness of the state’s foster care system–rather than some foreign adventure. Start here; there’s plenty more to come.

Best in Show: I’ve been sadly neglectful of the Sun‘s terrifically wry coverage of the Miss USA pageant (tonight, at the Hippodrome)–the joke’s usually buried in the third or fourth paragraph–since there’s just so much of it. But anyway, today’s Post pageant story, by Lonnae O’Neal Parker, is good, too.

Observing the Oblates: In today’s Sun, in the wake of Camille Cosby’s $2 million donation, Liz Bowie takes a look at life at East Baltimore’s St. Frances Academy.

Also in today’s Sun, Frank D. Roylance plays with kids rediscovering Ellicott City’s Enchanted Forest, whose characters were recently relocated to a nearby farm.

Absent Minded: In Saturday’s Post, Eric Rich, along with BPD detectives, rounds up Baltimore’s no-show witnesses.

HS BS: In Sunday’s Post, Steven Ginsberg listens aghast as highway-promoters try to convince him that various unbuilt projects, including Maryland’s Intercounty Connector, are neccessary for homeland security, as evacuation routes.
